About Us Search Bonaire started as an effort to make it easier to find information on the Official Bonaire Web site, InfoBonaire, and in June of 2002, evolved into becoming a comprehensive search engine providing information from Bonaire's top Web sites. The Search Bonaire search index is updated nightly, automatically and completely, to ensure that the newest (as well as original) content is made available via the Search Bonaire search engine. We search Web pages as well as Adobe Acrobat PDF files, and use a page ranking system which will provide you with suggested best matches for your searches. Search Bonaire is based on the htDig search engine, an open source search engine which operates under Linux. The Search Bonaire site is owned and operated by NetTech N.V., Bonaire's Official Web Site Developer, as well as the operator of the ultra-popular Bonaire Talk discussion group site, and maintainer and operator of the world-famous Bonaire WebCams. How to Get Your Site Added to Search Bonaire We only index sites which meet particular criteria, most prominently among this being the ability of site servers to provide our search engine with fast and unlimited access to the sites for indexing, since our indexing process fetches data from Web servers at 10-30 megabits (millions of bits) per second. For comparison's sake, a typical Internet dial-up connection is only 30-50 kilobits (thousands of bits) per second, and even DSL or cable modems only operate up to at most 1.5 to 2 million bits per second, a fraction of what our search engine requires to keep it "fed".
